BMW ConnectedDrive is an advanced, remote services interface that utilizes an embedded internet connection to deliver information and smartphone support right to the advanced driver information systems on your BMW.Safety and convenience are integral benefits of the ConnectedDrive experience. Features like BMW Assist eCall, Roadside Assistance, Concierge Services, and Amazon Echo integration are available to make commuting through the Houston area a safe and pleasurable experience for both driver and passengers.
What does BMW ConnectedDrive do?
To achieve a seamless interface between you, your smartphone, and your BMW vehicle, the BMW ConnectedDrive suite connects to your BMW via an integrated SIM card installed in your BMW.ConnectedDrive features three main digital services groups:

Convenience
Since the journey starts at home, BMW has created the My BMW app (formerly BMW Connected) to help start the journey right.You can pre-load your trip right from the My BMW app on your Apple or Android smartphone and have it sent to your BMW for that much-needed road trip out to Galveston Island State Park. In addition to trip planning, My BMW also provides a full status of your BMW, including items like tire pressure or oil life and allows you to lock/unlock doors and set climate control temperatures right from your phone. Some of the most impressive features of My BMW are the ability to see a 3D view of your vehicle, along with the exact location and status, and the ability to use your phone as a digital key.
Once on the road, ConnectedDrive allows your BMW to provide up-to-the-minute information like Houston real time traffic information and notifications in BMW Maps. It can help you find parking in Downtown Houston, or pay for parking near NRG Stadium via the ParkMobile app, right from the driver's seat. A 24-hour concierge, Wi-Fi hotspot, and fully-integrated voice control all make the journey as seamless as possible. BMW online provides information such as fuel prices, weather reports, news, and more-right in the touchscreen iDrive interface on your BMW.
Advanced voice control represents the ultimate convenience and BMW delivers a few ways to connect with your car via voice. The My BMW app includes Amazon Echo integration, which allows you to speak to Amazon's advanced digital assistant to perform tasks like locking your doors or checking on the fuel level of your vehicle. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant uses the phrase "Hey BMW" to provide information or execute commands.
Not only does this system respond to your voice, but it also learns your habits, and will remember things like regular destinations or commonly driven routes that you input into your infotainment system.
Safety
There's nothing more important than the safety of you and your passengers. To put your mind at ease, BMW ConnectedDrive offers features like BMW Assist eCall which immediately connects you with a live response specialist and transmits your exact location so rescuers can get to you as fast as possible.Should a breakdown occur, the integrated Roadside Assistance feature will get you the help you need on any road in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico. BMW has even integrated an advanced Drive Recorder that can record up to 40 seconds of audio and video for later review should a collision occur.
Entertainment
Entertainment and fun are part of the BMW ConnectedDrive experience with easy integration of streaming services like BMW Connected Music with Spotify or SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Most new BMWs are fully compatible with the ConnectedDrive software and it's entirely free to register in the ConnectedDrive store. ConnectedDrive comes standard on most BMW models for three years, and there is a price to continue after that point. Pricing is based on the model and the number of features that the owner chooses to select.How do I activate my BMW ConnectedDrive?
It's easy to activate BMW ConnectedDrive after your purchase or lease of a new BMW.First, you'll need a BMW ID and login which you can access from the ConnectedDrive portal. Next, BMW will ask you to enter the last seven characters of your VIN to confirm the BMW model.
Then you'll select whether you are the vehicle's primary or secondary driver and look for the security code on your car's infotainment screen, which you will find under Main Menu > ConnectedDrive > Messages. Last, enter the same code into the ConnectedDrive app on your phone.
